May brings budding trees, blooming flowers, awakening wildlife, and ice-free lakes! Summer is just around the corner, ready to entertain the whole family with a variety of recreational fun! Boat rentals, horseback riding, fishing, bicycle rentals, ATV riding, and hiking are some of the most popular summer activities in the area. Trail Ridge Road typically opens around the last week of May, weather permitting, which allows full access to Rocky Mountain National Park. The month ends with a bang, as Grand Lake enjoys our annual Memorial Day Weekend celebrations!

The Grand Lake Golf Course is gearing up for the summer season, and is planning to open mid-May, weather permitting. The Sly Fox Restaurant will open for the summer on Friday, May 4th, and will be open daily with breakfast, lunch, and Friday Sunset Dining Specials. Enjoy views of the golf course and Rocky Mountain National Park while you dine!

On Saturday, May 5th, at 9:30am the Grand Lake Golf Course is hosting “BioBlitz”. This is a FREE community event for all ages. Join the fun as we document plant and animal species on our golf course.

Afterwards, celebrate Cinco de Mayo at El Pacifico and enjoy Peggy Mann Band at 6pm on Saturday, May 5th.

2018 Rocky Mountain Repertory Theater summer and fall season tickets are on sale! Be entertained by a talented performance of Annie, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, The Full Monty, or Pump Boys and Dinettes.

Memorial Day weekend in Grand Lake is a memorable patriotic celebration you shouldn’t miss! In addition to the annual weekend events, El Pacifico will be hosting the Peggy Mann Band at 6pm on Friday, May 25th, and Martin & Taylor at 6pm on Saturday, May 26th. The Kawuneeche Visitor Center will showcase a guest speaker on Saturday, May 26th, with a special presentation on Osprey and other birds local to the area.

Don’t miss your chance to win at Rotary Bingo on Friday, May 25th, 7:30-9pm in the Louie Heckert Pavilion in Town Park. There will be two more opportunities to play and win on Saturday and Sunday, same time and place. Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Grand Lake, each card costs $3.00 and plays 12 games!

The Annual Memorial Day Parade, Ceremony and Potluck will be held on Monday, May 28th. Beginning at 10am, Veterans, horses, and floats representing local service groups and businesses will make their way down Grand Avenue. Veterans are encouraged to enjoy complimentary coffee and continental breakfast at Pancho & Lefty’s. A heartfelt ceremony will be held in Town Park after the parade, followed by the potluck and beverages.

The Kauffman House Museum begins daily summer hours of 11am to 5pm for the summer season on Monday, May 28th. Open from 11am to 5pm, adult admission is only $5, and admission is FREE for youth under 12, active military families, and GLAHS members. Built as a hotel in 1892, this rustic Victorian building boasts displays and stories that will bring you back in time. Visit www.grandlakehistory.org for more information.

The Grand Lake Center hosts Total Body Fitness from 9-10am, followed by Senior Fit from 10:15-11am, on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Total Body Fitness is also offered on Saturday mornings from 10-11am. Complete Cardio & Weight Room facilities are available for $8 a day, and Open Gym is available for just $2 a day!
