February brings fun-filled, family-friendly events every weekend in Grand Lake! The weekend fun begins with the first Ice Addiction Ice Fishing Tournament followed by our playful Annual Winter Carnival, the return of the Annual Flight for Life Snowmobile Poker Run, ending with another Full Moon Ski at the Grand Lake Nordic Center the last weekend in February. 

If you’ve never been a part of Grand Lake’s Winter Carnival, it’s not too late to join the fun! Held on historic Grand Avenue on February 10th, this annual event brings fun for the whole family, with a variety of events such as Human Bowling, Bed Sled Races and Tea Pot Curling. Businesses will boast their best snow sculpture following this year’s theme of “Superheroes and Cartoons,” and the Town Park will be filled with kids designing their best snowmen and playing miniature snow-golf.

On top of all the Winter Carnival fun held on Grand Avenue, be sure to check out the Vintage & Classic Oval Snowmobile Races being held a block away on Grand Lake. This annual event features riders from all over the United States on snowmobiles manufactured prior to 1985. Riders will participate in divisions based on age and gender, and in subdivisions based on sled cooling systems. The winners will be recognized after the races at an awards ceremony held at Pancho & Lefty’s bar and restaurant. This Vintage Snowmobile Racing series is hosted by X-treme Mountain Racing.

The Annual Winter Carnival ends at 8pm on February 10th with Grand Lake’s famous fireworks over the lake. The Winter Carnival festivities will have you rolling in the snow with laughter, providing unforgettable memories and entertainment for the whole family. 

For those of you that may have missed the 30th Annual 3 Lakes Fishing Tournament at the end of January, there are two more chances to win prizes while you fish this winter!

The Tightline Outdoors Ice Addiction Tournament will be held Saturday, February 3rd with impressive prizes, plenty of giveaways, free coffee and Johnson’s Corner famous cinnamon rolls! This event provides an exciting ice fishing experience for all anglers at all experience levels. The single heaviest fish wins so register for your chance to win an ATV (first place), and over $15,000 in cash and prizes!

Then, on March 3rd & 4th, Grand Lake will showcase the 1st Annual Catch & Release Tournament, “Holes for Heroes,” hosted by Granby Bait & Tackle benefiting NHL Stanley Cup Champion #27 Scott Parker’s 501c3 Parker’s Platoon. 

The Grand Lake Nordic Center hosts several events this February! “Romp & Stomp,” an annual fundraiser benefiting Grand County Pet Pals, will be held on February 11th. On February 14th, take advantage of 2-for-1 Trail Passes in honor of Valentine’s Day! Then, enjoy another Full Moon Ski event on Saturday, February 24th from 5pm to 9pm. Ski by the light of the moon, then grab hot drinks near the bonfire, and dinner and drinks at the Sly Fox Restaurant. The FREE tubing hill will be lit for the event as well! No pre-registration required. 

The Flight for Life Snowmobile Poker Run returns to Grand Lake on February 17th! Ride at your own pace, and try your hand at winning cash awards and raffle prizes, followed by happy hour and an after party. This event is sponsored by Mile Hi Snowmobile Club of Denver and the Grand Lake Trail Blazers Snowmobile Club with proceeds supporting Flight for Life.Did you know you can “Snowshoe the Wilderness” with a Park Ranger in Rocky Mountain National Park? FREE two-hour snowshoe tours are available Saturdays and Sundays until March 4th. Personal snowshoes and ski poles with large baskets are required to participate, and all participants must be 8 years of age or older. Reservations are required and may be made no sooner than 7 days in advance by calling 970-627-3471.

The Grand Lake Center is proud to offer FREE ice skating and ice skate rentals! From fitness classes, day use of their Complete Cardio & Weight Room facilities at $8 a day, and Open Gym for just $2 a day, you’re sure to find fun for everyone here!
